I am thrilled to announce that I have been invited to attend a once in a life-time retreat in Washington D.C. for the top Latina bloggers. The retreat brings together 60+ influential bloggers from around the U.S. for two-days. The objective of the retreat is to “empower the top voices of the Latina community with the skills and connections they need to turn their blogs into social enterprises and tools for advocacy.” Our agenda includes a visit to the White House for an exclusive briefing and mentoring sessions with top executives from a variety of industries and organizations for mini MBA style workshops.

Since I started blogging in 2006, I have had a number of exciting opportunities come my way. One of the highlights of those opportunities includes attending the first Mocha Moms weekend at Walt Disney World back in 2008. I met and bonded with many African-American mom bloggers whose blogs I had been reading since I started blogging. And now, six years later, I’m invited to join 30 Latina bloggers for another amazing opportunity. Not only am I humbled and honored by this invitation, but it also shows how many doors that social media can open. To think that an invitation to the White House would be one of them — wow!
Stay tuned for more information as I plan to share all that I have learned from the retreat! Until then, follow the conversation on Twitter using the hashtags #TopBloguera and #Latism.
