We’ve Been Boo’d

Have you ever been Boo’d before?  We just got Boo’d two days in a row, yesterday and again this morning.

Here is what happens when you get Boo’d.

You walk out your front door and next thing you know– BOO!

There’s a little surprise waiting for you at your doorstep.  Our first surprise was a goodie bag full of candy, stickers, and glow sticks.  This morning we had a pumpkin, more glow sticks, and a Halloween water bottle.

Perfect to get us in the Halloween spirit.

What’s this Boo’ing all about you say?  I know, I had never heard of it either but apparently it’s not so uncommon.  There are blogs and websites dedicated just to Boo’ing.  Who knew?!

Boo’ing is like secret santa at work.   What basically happens is that one neighbor starts the chain by purchasing Halloween theme goodies and putting them in a cute bag or pumpkin and then secretly dropping the goodies off to two other neighbors.  The goodies include a Boo poem and picture of a ghost.  Once you get Boo’d, you put up the ghost picture so that other’s don’t Boo you again.  Next thing you know, everyone in your neighborhood has the sign on the door.

Halloween Boo Poem

Boo Poem

“You’ve Been Boo’d”
The air is cool the season fall
Soon Halloween will come to all
The spooks are after things to do
In fact, a spook brought this to you
“BOO” is a shield from the witching hour
Just hang it up and watch its power
On your front door is where it works
It wards off spooks and scary jerks
The treats that came with crypted note
Are yours to keep, enjoy them both
The power comes when friends like you
Will copy this and make it two
Then others here among our friends
Will give warm fuzzies that do not end
We’ll all have smiles upon our face
No one will know who “BOO’ed” whose place
Just two short days to work your spell
Or a big zap will strike your tail
And don’t forget a nifty treat,
Like something cute or something sweet
Please join the fun, let’s really hear it
And spread some “BOO’s” and Halloween spirit.

Wouldn’t it be fun to start Boo’ing people’s blogs?  Cute way to spread some Halloween link love!

  1. How fun!!! And I love the goodies you got. :)

I wish there had been “Boo-ing” when I lived in the U.S. And yes, I think there should be some boo-ing for blogs too! :)

  2. Aaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwww this looks so much fun!! One of the advantages of living in a suburban area. I wouldn’t do this in my apartment building – plus I don’t think anyone would return the boo.

And I would love Boo for blogs :D

  3. I love that…. A Boo neighborhood. Sounds like all the booing scares all the spirits away and makes for a happy town;)

  4. This would sort of freak me out, but it looks like fun! cute :)

  7. This is such a fun idea! I bet it was awesome to get home and see that on your doorstep. Totally would make your day and give you the chance to pass it on.
